In addition to the services above, MGH Imaging offers Peripheral Artery Disease Screening.

Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) develops when arteries become clogged with plaque, limiting blood flow to your legs. Just as with clogged arteries in the heart, clogged arteries in the legs mean you are at higher risk for having a heart attack or stroke. Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol increase your risk of having P.A.D.

A non-invasive ankle-brachial index (ABI) is available to compare blood pressure reading in your ankles with blood pressure readings in your arms. This and other simple tests can help diagnose P.A.D.

Early detection and treatment of P.A.D. can restore your mobility; decrease your risk for heart attack and stroke, and possibly save your life.
