The Emergency Services Department at Magee General Hospital strives to offer patients the most comprehensive emergency medical services available. The department is staffed 24 hours a day by Physicians who specialize in Emergency Medicine. In addition to the physicians and other personnel, qualified Registered Nurses with expertise in emergent patient care cover the Emergency Department to ensure the very best care. Specialized equipment available in the emergency and trauma rooms include LifePak 20 Defibrillator, Glidoscope, Fluid Warmer, Bair Hugger Warming Units, and other items necessary for trauma care. Suturing and splinting are also provided when necessary. The ER Nursing Staff is trained in a variety of courses including, but not limited to, the following:  ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life SupportPALS Pediatric Advanced Life SupportTNCC Trauma Nurse Core CourseATNC Advanced Trauma Nurse CourseSANE Sexual Assault Nurse Examination CourseEKG InterpretationABLS Advanced Burn Life SupportMagee General Hospital Emergency Services Department is supported around the clock by the following ancillary services: LaboratoryRadiology - Including X-rays, CT Scan, Ultrasound, & MRI services.Respiratory Therapy - All Respiratory personnel are trained in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). Therapists utilize the advanced Glidoscope intubation for airway management.Pharmacy - Thrombolytic therapy is available 24 hours a day for STEMI [Heart attack] and Stroke Patients.MGH is affiliated with the Mississippi Trauma Network as a Level 4 Trauma Center in Central MS Trauma Program. There were 2400 hospital admissions and 10,500 visits to our Emergency Department in the past year. |
