The MAGEE GENERAL HOSPITAL Employee Wellness Program is designed to help employees in the fight against Diabetes, Heart Disease, Obesity, Stroke and other conditions.

Over 11% of adult Mississippians have Type 2 Diabetes, making our state 2nd highest in the nation
for Diabetes prevalence.

DIABETES IS SERIOUS. It is also controllable & preventable.
The "Target Number" for Glucose (Blood Sugar) level typically falls between 80 and 120. Your healthcare provider can tell you what the proper Blood Glucose level is for you.
Tips To Prevent Diabetes:
Reduce portion size
Move more each day
Make healthy food choices
Know your glucose target (& how well you are maintaining that level)

If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is over 25, you are categorized as obese. To determine Body Mass Index: Multiply your weight (in pounds) by 703. Divide that by your height (in inches). Divide by your height (in inches) again.

Stroke
Stroke is often called brain attack. Symptoms come on suddenly:
Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body.
Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.
Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
Sudden severe headache with no known cause.
